The Beggar
--by DaySounds, © 2003-2023

Streets swarming with voices,
Laughter.
Standing at the corner,
Alone,
I extend my hand,
Begging for some
Left-over love.

Left-over love
Left-over love

Colorful figures
Look down and sneer.
A few,
Feeling sorry for my plight,
Hand me some coins;
Others, a few nice words.
But nobody gives me any
Of their
Left-over love.

Left-over love
Left-over love

Please, may I have some
Of your left-over love?

My voice doesn't make any sound.
At least, it appears that way.
I am not asking for pity,
I am not asking for nice words,
I am not asking for money.
All I am asking for is
Some of your left-over love.

Left-over love
Left-over love

All I am asking for is
Your left-over love.

Why are you standing
At this corner,
With a tear in your eye,
Asking for left-over love?

Left-over love
Left-over love

Why have you mine rejected
So many times,
When, on the cross,
I gave it to you all?

Hold my hand. Let's walk together.
Let me wipe away your tears,
And accept all of my love,
All of my love.
Please, accept all of my love.
