Un día, como la lluvia caía sobre mí,                     One day, as the rain was falling upon me,
El frío me penetraba, y no dejaba de sufrir.           The cold was getting in, and I couldn´t stop the suffering.
Mi vida eran tinieblas y mi alma soledad;              My life was darkness and my soul, loneliness;
No tenía esperanza en la que poder esperar.         I didn´t have hope to hope for.

Solo, en mi amargura, no cesaba de buscar           Alone, in my bitterness, I wouldn´t cease to search for
Alguien quien me ayudara y me “dara” libertad;    Someone who would help me and give me freedom;
Entonces, me dije y recordé unas palabras:           Then, I said and remembered some words:
Que Jesús había muerto por mí;                            That Jesús had died for me;
En Él estaba mi esperanza.                                    My hope was in Him.
